Our staff is led by John R. Kingsley, M.D., recognized internationally as one of the leading innovators in the field of phlebology and the treatment of vein disorders. His associates are James H. Isobe, M.D. , Vincent W. Gardner, M.D, and Charles Hunt II, MD. The doctors practice the Phlebology specialty in Birmingham, Alabama as well as at our modern facility in Atlanta, Georgia. Additional Alabama clinics in Tuscaloosa, Oxford, and Montgomery are opening and will be staffed by our doctors. Our surgeons are board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, and in phlebology by the American Board of Phlebology. Dr. Kingsley is also board certified in vascular surgery and Dr. Hunt is a boarded cardiovascular surgeon. Our surgeons have decades of experience, and are acknowledged experts in the treatment of vein disorder problems, such as varicose veins, spider veins, venous stasis ulcers, leg swelling, leg pain, and other symptoms of venous insufficiency. They are experts in vascular ultrasound, and are among only a few physicians to achieve the designation of Registered Vascular Technologist. The doctors have written and lectured to many medical and surgical societies, and have been instructors to surgical residents in teaching hospitals. Dr. Kingsley has given invited lectures throughout the United States and across the Pacific, presenting annually to physicians in Japan and Australia. Dr. Isobe is a leader of the American College of Surgeons, Chairman of one of the prestigious committees, and a frequent recipient of "best teacher award" during his tenure in the Baptist teaching hospitals. The surgeons now focus entirely on the vein specialty, a dedication and commitment which separates them from many other doctors. Each brings a special expertise to the field, giving patients the advantage of their combined knowledge and experience. Dr. Melanie Petro, M.D., a well known cosmetic plastic surgeon, joins the group in 2009. She brings special expertise to those patients seeking the full spectrum of aestetic rejuvenation, complimenting well the cosmetic spider vein treatments offered by the doctors and staff.
